Poster crew run #spycop takeover of London ad spaces

In their latest adventure occupying advertising real estate across the capital, subvertisers the Special Patrol Group have set giant posters up on bus stops and on the Tube. In a statement, the group said:

These posters are up on the Underground because Metropolitan Police #SpyCops have deceived women into relationships, fathered children and lied about it in court.

And they still won’t release the names of the perpetrators. It’s time to stop the whitewash in the #spycops inquiry. Release the names! Release the files!

The endlessly stalled inquiry, which has seen ringmaster John MItting grant anonymity to nearly 30% of the force’s undercovers, has largelylost the confidenceof its victims, with three victims now fundraising to mount a legal challenge against the way it’s being run. They said:

Our fear is that if it continues in its current trajectory that the Undercover Policing Inquiry will be a whitewash. We have been forced to initiate a legal challenge to the Home Secretary’s decision to refuse to appoint a panel with the skill and diversity required. Our aim is to restore public confidence in the Undercover Policing Inquiry and its ability to get to the truth.

#SeaWatch: The obstruction of rescue services leads to another boat accident – death rate at record high

Anyone who obstructs rescue services is liable to prosecution, nobody would intentionally block an ambulance – but that is exactly what is happening: rescue ships are being blocked, with deadly consequences.

According to UNHCR, another boat accident occurred yesterday, 114 people are missing. It is already the third since rescue ships have been blocked in Malta, on Sunday at least 63 people drowned, Friday there were over 100 including 3 babies.

The weeks before, several hundred people had already drowned. According to the IOM, this June is with 629 the deadliest in 5 years, although only half as many people have arrived in Italy. Mortality in June is at record levels and is directly related to the prevention of sea rescue. Continue reading “#SeaWatch: Hundreds more Drown as Rescue Boats deliberately Blocked. #RacistEurope”

Turkish police again Teargas Pride March in Istanbul as Erdogan revels in Absolute Power

As in previous years Turkish police have viciously attacked a peaceful and festive Gay Pride march, under the neo fascist rule of ‘Emperor Erdogan’, now legitimised by elections after locking up or killing tens of thousands suspected of not liking him.

Riot police used tear gas, dogs and batons to disperse thousands of people attending the LGBTI+ pride march in Istanbul today.

The pride marched even though the municipal government banned it, citing security concerns. The police threatened that they will arrest  anyone who “looks gay, wears rainbows or bright feminine colors, or has on too short shorts.” Indeed, the cops harassed and arrested Pride marchers through-out the day.

The police allowed the march participants to read out statements before ordering them to disperse. The pride organisers refused to do so, calling the ban “comical”, and the police violence followed.

Early in the morning, a large group of activists has occupied the abandoned luxury hotel Marques de la Ensenada de Valladolid with the aim that the building will never again be a space dedicated to speculation.

Around a dozen activists have been occupying the building in secret for a week, although it has not been until today when they have publicized their action.

“A group in Valladolid have decided to take a step forward and recover for the public life of the city this space that is behind us, and we have baptized itr with the name of La Molinera  (The Mill).

We have been working for several months to materialize this project that today, finally, we can present publicly, considering, with all the evidence on our part, that both institutions and owners have abandoned their duties in the preservation of this heritage space, cataloged as an Asset of Cultural Interest by the Junta de Castilla y León in 1991.

With more than 160 years of history, this was the old flour factory of La Perla, linked to agricultural and industrial activity around the Canal de Castilla, which survived episodes as relevant as the Bread Riots and resurfaced from its ashes after a devastating fire in 1912. via squat.net  shared with thanks  On Monday June 25, it was suddenly announced that the occupied student housing block in Catania (studentato 95100) would be evicted, on grounds of public order. People made barricades on the street and saw off the eviction threat.

The block was squatted in February 2018 after being empty for ten years. In the last six months the owner (Ursino Recupero) had made no attempt to contact the students, who have self-organised their accommodation since the university fails to provide it.
