Bologna is burning, while just outside its ancient walls a battle is being fought, under the single eye of Sauron, looking down from one of the two towers that are the symbol of the city. On one side are the bankers, shop keepers, butchers, politicians, and all the enemies who want to dominate the city with their bulldozers and their money, including Darth Vader with his troops and a Sauron-Mayor yelling to catch the ring.

On the other side are hackers, cyclists, farmers, guerrilla gardeners, No-TAV militants, anti-fascists, Chewbacca, a book bloc and an Ent throwing a fire extinguisher (just like Carlo Giuliani). Mass Occupation of Toxic Assets: Anti Eviction Movement (PAH)

The PAH Anti Eviction Platform in the town of Salt has occupied a whole block of new empty flats owned  by Sareb, the newly created ‘bad bank’ set up to hold ‘toxic assets’ from bankrupt creditors. The association will transfer them to families who have been left homeless. 400,000 people have been evicted in the Spanish State due to the banks crisis and evictions are running at over 500 a day. The PAH forced parliament to debate an anti eviction law with a 1 million petition, but the majority PP are against. The EU has declared Spanish law in which you have to keep paying a mortgage after being evicted to be illegal.

The squatted block is a toxic asset. It is also the only speck of life in failed blocks and empty buildings and real estate in the mountain town of Salt (Gironès County, Catalonia). The Platform of People Affected by Mortgages (PAH) on Friday took the block of  brand new unused flats to distribute them free to families evicted . By now we all know we’re in a climate change emergency.

Most poeple also know that fossil fuels kill millions through air, land and water pollution.

But very few are aware that a cheap alternative fuel has existed all along, suppressed by the Fossil Fools for over 100 years.

And hardly anyone will believe this alternative is 100% CO2-free and produces no toxic gases when burned, is safer than petroleum and can be made locally from solar electricity, air and water!

Help Femen activist Amina, ‘condemned to Death’ for protest Photo

Radical Tunisian islamists represented by Imam Adel Almi call for death penalty by stones for young tunisian girl, who took a naked picture of herself and posted on Facebook to support FEMEN movement. 26th of February a Tunisian woman, Amina Tyler, sent an email to FEMEN with attached photo of herself in the style of FEMEN with written message on her body  “Fuck your morals!”.
The picture was posted on fan pages of FEMEN. Then Amina has created a fan page FEMEN Tunisia to support the movement from her country. Today the information about death threats to Amina from islamists was spread by mass medias, the call for death penalty was made the by Tunisian political figure and leader of the Association of centrists reforms Adel Almi. After getting info about threats for Amina FEMEN activists tried to get in touch with the tunisian supporter by phone, but the phone is switched off.

One of the few-and-far-between perks of being a climate blogger is that occasionally I get access to books and movies before the general public does.

This past weekend I got to watch “Greedy Lying Bastards” before it hit movie screens across the U.S. on Monday. Sunday night I, along with some fellow Citizens Climate Lobby volunteers, got together to watch this 90 minute documentary.
This movie exposes the American fossil fuel interests that have been blocking action on climate change for decades, taking a page – and some of the same PR firms and lobbyists – right out of the tobacco companies’ playbook.
