Freed Pussy Riot member continues protest against Putin

Yekaterina Samutsevich promises band mates, who remain in prison, she will continue struggle against president and to continue taking part in Pussy Riot’s anonymous performances.

Yekaterina Samutsevich, the Pussy Riot member freed by a Moscow court this week, has promised to continue taking part in the band’s anti-Putin protests, saying she would be “more careful and more clever” to avoid another arrest.

On Friday, in her first newspaper interview, Samutsevich said her parting words to the two band members who remain in jail were that she would continue their struggle against the president. EU directs to ban Gay Hate Crime.. as Ukraine urges Anti-gay Law

this directive has been pushed through by women members who promised to actively promote it into local laws within 3 years..  Meanwhile in Ukraine the new law for up to 5 yrs jail for being gay has passed its first stage.

EU law to protect victims of crime due to sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression

Today the European Parliament agreed on a new Directive on the rights guaranteed to victims of crime in the EU. Notably, it provides specific assistance and protection to people who suffered crime because of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

The Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing minimum standards on the rights, support and protection of victims of crime now says victims should receive appropriate assistance and protection. With all the excitement of the attacks on  Occupy Congress and the monster response demos lets not forget Saturday was also the Global Action Day for free abortion, safe and free..

Pussy Riot for Rights.. Put Putin OUT!

A lawyer for members of Russian punk band Pussy Riot has appealed their convictions on charges of “hooliganism” for a protest against President Vladimir Putin in a Moscow cathedral earlier this year, Reuters reports, even as the musicians say they’re more committed than ever to seeking the removal of Putin.

Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, Maria Alyokhina, 24, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 30, were each sentenced to two years in prisonAugust 17th for their February “punk-prayer” demonstration in Moscow’s Christ the Savior Cathedral. Their lawyer, Nikolai Polozov, said he doubts the court will reverse the convictions. “If the court abides by the law it would throw out the verdict,” Polozov said. “But being realists, understanding all the efforts the state has put into this case, we think it’s unlikely the verdict will be overturned.”
