Scores Arrested During ‘Jews Against ICE’ Protest at Manhattan Amazon Store

At least 40 protesters who took part in a “Jews Against ICE” protest at an Amazon Books store along 34th Street in Manhattan were arrested by police on Sunday, August 11, coinciding with the Jewish fast day of Tisha B’Av.

Hundreds of protesters took over the streets near Minnesota’s Federal ICE building

This footage, livestreamed for the Jews for Racial and Economic Justice organization by author and activist Abby Stein, shows the scene at the store where more than 1,000 demonstrators spoke out against detention centers in the United States, made speeches, sang songs and held banners with slogans including “Never again means never again,” drawing a comparison between the events of the Holocaust and the current immigration situation in the US.

I felt frustrated over the past three years at what appeared to me to be the shallow and Westminster-obsessed coverage of the Brexit saga by the media. Here was a crisis like no other in recent British history that was shaking the bedrock of society and government alike, but the reporting and commentary on it were over-focused on party politics and the process of Britain leaving the E U, and not on the reasons it was doing so.

Why were the divisions so deep and the debate, often the polite word for a shouting match, so angry and uncompromising? What did people really believe about Brexit and why did they defend their beliefs with almost religious fervour? Is it true – in the words of the former head of MI6, Sir John Sawyer – that Britain is having “a nervous breakdown” and, if so, why?

Brexit can be compared to an earthquake in which pent up forces are suddenly released, tearing open new fault lines and energising old ones such as inequality, de-industrialisation, globalisation, imperial retreat, immigration and austerity. All these have always had the capacity to provoke crises, but they had not previously done so on anything like the scale that many had forecast. …..continues below

We share a report from many by The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights about Turkish attacks on the SDF .

Context: The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were started in 2015 to expand the Rojava Revolution by inviting male and female militias of all races and religions to join in expanding and defending the struggle.

Now it’s a multi ethnic, multi religion, anti sexist, non authoritarian federation, which includes women and dozens of groups of all religions and races, having liberated Manbij, Raqqa and Deir es Zor etc. from ISIS terror. the SDF is now the official military force of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AA) Kurds may now be a minority in the SDF but the YPG/YPJ is the biggest militia.

Turkey again makes daily threats to eliminate the 70,000 strong force, financing and supplying ISIS remnants,as well as HTS Al Qaeda, Islamic militias and infiltrating terrorist gangs, while Assad forces conspire with tribal leaders to foment resistance. The SDF still has ‘protection’ by none less than a small force of the USA military, for their own imperialist reasons, though Trump still plans to pull out.

Press reports suggest Erdogan may take advantage of the truce in the Turkish supplied Idlib war to invade Rojava (AA) on the pretext of creating a 32km ”safe zone” which would include the main Kurdish cities, in a dirty deal with the US.

That is, ERdogan needs permission from the US to use the airspace and bomb Rojava cities to oblivion. (In exchange for ???) This was what made the Afrin invasion possible, but that time it was Russia which did the dirty deal and gave bombing permission.

CGT Anarchist Union Joins the World Climate General Strike Sept. 27th

The General Confederation of Labor (CGT) has shown its support for the World Strike for Climate day by joining it in defense of the planet on September 27, 2019.

On this day of struggle, convened by groups and organizations throughout the State, governments will be required to immediately declare a climatic emergency and take urgent and concrete measures aimed at reducing greenhouse gases.

More than 50 organizations urge citizens to support this strike day in defense of the planet and call a student and consumer strike in the Spanish State.

In this sense, organizations raise the need to adopt a new socio-ecological model “that does not compromise life as we know it”, since more than one million species (animals and plants) are on the verge of extinction as a consequence of human activity

La Confederación General del Trabajo (CGT) ha mostrado su apoyo a la jornada de Huelga Mundial por el Clima sumándose a la misma en defensa del planeta el próximo 27 de septiembre de 2019.

En esta jornada de lucha, convocada por colectivos y organizaciones de todo el Estado, se exigirá a los Gobiernos la declaración inmediata de la emergencia climática y la adopción de medidas urgentes y concretas encaminadas a la reducción de gases de efecto invernadero.

En este sentido, las organizaciones plantean la necesidad de adoptar un nuevo modelo socioecológico “que no comprometa la vida tal y como la conocemos”, puesto que más de un millón de especies (animales y plantas) están al borde de la extinción como consecuencia de la actividad humana.

De igual modo, el aumento de las temperaturas es también preocupante y tendrá consecuencias catastróficas para generaciones presentes y futuras por el aumento del nivel del mar, olas de calor más intensas y prologadas, sequías, falta de agua potable, etc.

Las organizaciones firmantes de la Alianza por la Emergencia Climática recuerdan a los gobernantes de los Estados la responsabilidad que tienen al frente de distintas instituciones, por eso insisten en que la lucha por la emergencia climática debe englobar a todas las personas.

Desde CGT se ha realizado un llamamiento a toda la sociedad para que secunde esta jornada de Huelga Mundial por el Clima e insta a participar en todos los actos organizados para este día en todo el Estado español

Rightwing control of the judiciary was used to force out Dilma in an institutional coup and later to jail and disbar Lula, the clear favourite ‘socialist’ candidate for president.

The presidency went to a far right wing mafia boss, Bolsonaro, with a US spawned Trump style media campaign. Bolsonaro is using his presidential decrees; to try and open the country to selling off anything of value for commissions; for repression of the landless and impunity for the tiny minority of landowners who still own most of arable Brasil; for open and continuous racist and anti gay and feminist statements, thus unleashing a flood of attacks; for trying to abolish Indigenous rights and land titles; for opening the Amazon and all areas to mining, logging, ranching, etc..

But above all the US supported Bolsonaro regime is about trying to abolish all progressive measures, health, education, pensions, food aid etc, which have partly lifted the people from poverty, serfdom, ignorance and gender based oppression in recent years. Bolsonaro proudly advocates dictatorial rule with death squads, torture and police and army repression.. Even so the EU has now signed a trade deal, thus legitimizing and rewarding the regime.

..Mientras la policía antidisturbios seguía golpeando la última de nuestras barricadas, atravesando los ladrillos estructurales de la entrada trasera de nuestra posición en cuclillas, supe que era hora de irnos. Traté de arrastrar mi estantería por las escaleras a la seguridad, pero lamentablemente me vi obligado a dejarla atrás cuando fui arrastrada más allá de las líneas de cascos y escudos para esperar mi destino en el mundo exterior…

Disculpe la demora, pero bienvenido de nuevo al Squatter’s Digest. Quédate cerca mientras trato de sacudir todas las idas y venidas en el mundo agazapado en los últimos meses.

Así que finalmente fuimos desalojados de nuestra posición en el este de Londres, abrumados por el escuadrón antidisturbios, bobbies locales y altos funcionarios judiciales. Dos de nuestro número fueron arrestados, aunque desde entonces han sido puestos en libertad. En las palabras de los policias mismos “aparentemente está bien atacar a la policía en estos días” (se puede saborear el sarcasmo amargo con el que se ofrecieron esas palabras).

Puede ser solo una coincidencia, pero se siente como si hubiera habido un empuje por parte de los consejos en el este de Londres (particularmente Newham y Tower Hamlets) para deshacerse de l*s okupas. De hecho, en el momento de escribir este artículo, no había menos de cuatro casas okupadas que iban a la cancha o que debían ser desalojados en la semana. Sería bueno imaginar el viejo mantra de “¡1 desalojo, 2 okupaciones!”, Pero eso no parece ser verdad para ser honesto.

Algunas cosas interesantes han tenido lugar en el Reino Unido durante el último tiempo, sin embargo, unificando los okupas con la política anarquista.
