I,  SNOWBOT

FOR A MAN ACCUSED OF ESPIONAGE AND EFFECTIVELY EXILED IN RUSSIA, EDWARD SNOWDEN IS ALSO, STRANGELY, FREE

By .. shared with thanks    Edward Snowden lay on his back in the rear of a Ford Escape, hidden from view and momentarily unconscious, as I drove him to the Whitney museum one recent morning to meet some friends from the art world.

Along West Street, clotted with traffic near the memorial pools of the World Trade Center, a computerized voice from my iPhone issued directions via the GPS satellites above. Snowden’s lawyer, Ben Wizner of the American Civil Liberties Union, was sitting shotgun, chattily recapping his client’s recent activities.

Snowden’s case is, in fact, a study in the boundless freedoms the internet enables. It has allowed him to become a champion of civil liberties and an adviser to the tech community — which has lately become radicalized against surveillance — and, in the process, the world’s most famous privacy advocate. After he appeared on Twitter last September — his first message was “Can you hear me now?” — he quickly amassed some two million followers.

For a fugitive wanted by the FBI for revealing classified spying programs who lives in an undisclosed location in Russia, Snowden was managing to maintain a rather busy schedule around Manhattan. Continue reading “I, SNOWBOT: Fugitive Snowden Escapes Exile via a Wi-Fi robot”

Robots to hire, fire and boss us by our Digital Footprints

digital footprint

In the near future you may be chosen or refused for a job without an interview, test or formal qualifications, chosen by an algorithm robot after instant analysis of your ‘digital footprint’, everything you’ve ever done that leaves a trace. Equally you could get fired because the BOT dislikes your footprint.

Asking such programs to exclude anyone who has been in a union, or ever protested about anything, or ever pressed ‘LIKE’ on anything anti the 1% or whoever holds power, will be as easy as pressing a few keys Continue reading “Robots to hire, fire and boss us by our Digital Footprints”

BBC censors the Smashing of Guardian’s Hard Drives

Today 20th August I  can find no mention in the BBC online that their sister media outlet The Guardian was forced by police to destroy hard drives with leaked info of US security crimes, in their basement yesterday. A story that is second most popular in the Washington Post ISN’T WORTH REPORTING the next day in the BBC. Is this pre-nazi Germany or what?!big brother

How can Snowden escape Obama’s net? Freedom Flight!

Edward Snowden has finally been offered asylum by Nicaragua and Venezuela, the only countries willing to risk the vicious reprisals of the USA and protect a world hero. But how can he get there?

We have seen that all countries in submission to the US Empire ( Spain, France, etc) will close their airspace and force down any suspect plane.

But there is a way that Edward could escape and  evade life imprisonment for telling the truth….. FREEDOM FLIGHT… see below..

In Praise of Pirates. Hurrah for Ned Snowden! Pirate Utopias

pirateThe Rarely Told Story: Pirates as Radical Commoners

Kester Brewin, a teacher of mathematics in South East London, was wondering why his son has been invited to countless pirate-themed birthday parties, but not any aggravated robbery themed parties.  What’s the reason for our fascination with pirates?

Brewin’s answer is an amazing 13-minute video talk  for TEDx Exeter (UK) based on his 2012 book, Mutiny! Why We Love Pirates and How they Can Save Us. The talk is a powerful account of 18th century piracy and a plea for all of us to become pirates as acts of radical emancipation.
