Call for renewed Worldwide Actions in Solidarity with Prison Strike, Oct 15-22

o1522-sqIt hardly seems necessary to summarize what has gone down inside U.S. prisons since September 9th. Hunger strikes, work stoppages, and riots have spread throughout the country on a scale that we likely aren’t even fully aware of yet.

Some uprisings appeared took us by surprise, such as in several Florida prisons, while others presumably grew from recent organizing endeavors on the inside, such as at Kinross in Michigan or Holman in Alabama. By rough estimates, over 20,000 prisoners were involved in some way. That’s huge.Sept 9 Prison Strike 2016

On the outside, solidarity burned so brightly all over the world. Banner drops, graffiti slogans, noise demonstrations and more showed that we had the backs of all who would partake in the strike. It is worth noting however that the vast majority of this took place the first weekend of the strike. Spain doing Fine: There’s No Government like No Government

Spain Hasn’t Had a central Government for the Last 9 Months — and People Love Itno-government

Only 2.3 percent of respondents in a July poll by Spain’s Center for Sociological Investigations considered the lack of government the country’s major problem, and the figure is getting even smaller.”

adapted from a  Derrick Brose post in TheAnti-Media.org.. with thanks

For more than nine months, Spain has existed without a traditional national government. In the face of this lack of central authority and planning, Spaniards have done ”the impossible”: they have thrived without a government.smash-capitalism

Spanish politicians warned the people that allowing the national government to fade away could have disastrous effects. However, as the New York Times notes, “the crisis seems to have offered a glimpse of life if politicians simply stepped out of the way. For many here, it has not been all that bad.”

No government, no thieves,” Félix Pastor, a language teacher, told the Times. Pastor said the people of Spain were better without a government because the politicians were unable to cause any more harm. Rafael Navarro, a 71-year old pharmacy owner in Madrid, told the Times that “Spain would be just fine if we got rid of most of the politicians ...” Continue reading “Spain doing Fine: There’s No Government like No Government”

Anarchist Jennifer Gann beaten for Aiding another Trans Woman Prisoner

Support Babygirl Gann!

Submitted to It’s Going Down

Anarchist prisoner Jennifer Gann was attacked by warders at Kern Valley State Prison on September 13th for coming to the aid of another trans woman who was being harassed by guards. The following is an excerpt from a letter that just came in from Jennifer.

Please take some time to write Jennifer a letter, send her some zines, or put a couple dollars on her books. She does not have access to her property, and is being held in the Administrative Segregation Unit, (‘the hole’..solitary confinement), so anything helps.

The Letter

….”I’m currently sitting in a cold, gray, cement cell with nothing but a sink, toilet, bunk, and basic necessities.

I was on D-facility, Tuesday afternoon (9/13), going out to the yard from my housing unit when I heard a CO behind me begin yelling at and harassing one of my sistas. So I stopped to see what the problem was, when several COs immediately turned toward me and began yelling “turn around and get down!”jenniferganndone11x17

As soon as I turned my back to comply, I was assaulted from behind, my face slammed forward into a metal locker, splitting my head wide open, blood gushing, as 4 or 5 guards began punching and kicking me as I lay face down unable to move. They had me pinned down, knees in my back and on my head. They kept yelling “stop resisting!”

Once the handcuffs were on, they picked me up and escorted me across the yard in front of a couple dozen inmates as I yelled out “Fuck the police!” They slammed me to the ground a couple more times and put all their weight on me so I couldn’t breathe! Visions of Eric Garner past thru my mind”. Continue reading “Anarchist Jennifer Gann beaten for Aiding another Trans Woman Prisoner”

Mexico Jails student Luis for 33 yrs for Ayotzinapa solidarity Demo

luis-fernando-sotelo-b

As the anniversary of the ‘disappearance’ of teachers  approached, the State jailed our compañero Luis for 33 years for ‘damaging property’ at the Third Global Day for Ayotzinapa Protest, two years ago.

Accused of burning a bus Luis has been victimised and demonised in yet another atrocity by the ”terrorist” State. This is not exaggeration, the State really has condoned mass murders and disappearances and everyday torture of prisoners and opponents, as verified by UN and Human Rights reports.

In fact the original Ayotzinapa ‘disappearance’ of progressive socialist teachers was just the culmination of a State-condoned terrorist campaign against them.luis-fernando-banner-free-march

Everyone has always known who is  responsible, the ‘deep state’, the oligarchy of white rulers and landowners, allied with the drug mafia, with their money in Miami, and  backed as always by the USA, are continuing their immoral nazi tactics. Anarchism in Native America: Remembering the Past, Observing the Present, Protecting the Future

– Things have changed a lot since I became an anarchist, not the least of which was learning a lot about the government’s role in regulating just about everything imaginable, and how it negatively affects people. Becoming an anarchist has also given me a deeper appreciation of being Native, as well as the reverse: being Native has given me a deeper appreciation of what anarchism entails.

Yes, I know that there will probably be other anarchists that will denounce me being proud of something that is considered “an accident of birth”, yet they will conveniently overlook the fact that being descended from people who have been (and still are) consistently screwed over by a governing body “for their own good” means fertile soil for a bigger demand to dismantle The State™.

Growing up was not without its challenges.528c8f11a748ff1d7b7d182f586917e6

As a “mixed-breed”, I caught much flak by Natives for being white, and caught flak from whites for being Native. Even now, there’s still a lot of crap given to people who are not “pure enough”, and it’s coming from all sides. I was able to witness firsthand the traditions of my tribe (Oglala Lakota, in South Dakota), to listen to the stories, to watch how government meddling harmed those who were trying to make due for themselves and their families.
