Puerto Rico Mutual Aid Centers in Action.. Centros de Apoyo Mutuo

listen first of all, work with the needs of people, act with firmness and sacrifice, and of course, not ask for forgiveness or permission”

In the Post-Maria situation we are promoting the creation of Mutual Support Centers throughout the island to address the serious situation of our people.Help us build another Puerto Rico,FIND AND HELP.. click  HERE ON FACEBOOK… MUTUAL AID CENTERS.. Centros de Apoyo Mutuo

We are currently supporting community and grassroots organizations, including Taller Salud, El Hormiguero, Comedores Sociales de Puerto Rico, the Boricuá collective, and the agroecological movement, which are working in the communities, from Santurce to Loíza.

Our center of operations is in Cucina 135 in Hato Rey, with the telephone line 787-767-9862, where we agree daily to join collective, organizational and community efforts of all the organizations mentioned. We are betting on the capacity and potential of communities to identify their own needs, organize their own reconstruction and build long-term collective resilience. We urgently need supplies to provide the communities most devastated by the hurricane and which, as a matter of fact, have been forgotten and abandoned by the authorities.

Gás da Fracking Nos EUA chega em Sines, Lisboa, em 3 de dezembro

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

Today 3rd Dec 2017 the LNG tanker La Mancha Knutsen arrived at Sines in Portugal and began unloading 170,000 m3 of liquid fracking gas. Another great crime against our planet and its climate for the profit of Gas Natural Fenosa. The last 3 cargoes of the ship have been US Frack LNG Gas taken to Europe, a total of nearly a half million  cbm.  La Mancha Knutsen came under pirate attack in the Gulf of Guinea, off Nigeria’s Port Harcourt in April 2017.  Citing a source in the ministry of defense, Spanish daily El Comercio, reported that at least seven armed men approached the 173,656-cbm LNG carrier opening fire on the tanker once it increased speed to avoid the pirates boarding the vessel. Fortunately it did not explode and the motives of the pirates are more likely commercial than environmental

Anarchists in the Catalan Struggle “Without Feminism There Will Be No Revolution”

The #Barcelona Interview Series – Oca Gracia: “Without a Feminist Perspective There Will Be No Revolution”

This the first interview of our „Barcelona Interview Series“. On November 17, 2017, we spoke with anarchist comrades Jordi and Maria (both names changed) of the Oca Gracia collective in Barcelona, about the so-called Catalan process.

  • What were the main reasons for you to get involved, if you are involved, in the process of the independence movement?

Maria: The independence movement has a long history in Catalonia. The thing is… for so many years the idea of independence was linked with leaving the Spanish state. To break with the fascist characteristics of the Spanish state. It was mostly linked with leftwing ideas. In 2011 the conservative party Convergència i Unió (CiU) started to put independence as an important point on their agenda. As something attractive to get votes. The independence issue started to get mainstream.

For us the thing of being kind of involved in this, is mostly to get back to those original ideas. We are involved because we think it’s powerful to use this phase in which Catalonia is leaving (Spain) to promote ideas like breaking the power of the state, empowering people to self-organization and to bring-in anarchist ideas; like questioning the law, questioning what is legitimate and what is legal. This is something that a lot of people are questioning nowadays. We like to promote these ideas. Not the idea of creating a new republic, a new capitalistic state, but the idea of breaking Spain. Breaking the big political and economic force that Spain is and all the fascist ideals it has held for so many years. Long struggle still Blocks Nuclear Waste Cemetery in Villar de Cañas, Spain

It all began in Jan 2010  at 23:56 at night, in the little village of  Villar de Cañas when a council meeting voted in favour of a Nuclear Waste Cemetery which was not even on the agenda,
Spain finally had a place which agreed to host its high level Nuclear Waste, for thousands of years. But the battle against the cemetery had only just begun.
Laguna del Hito.. its protected habitat protection has been abolished by the PP courts
Last 25 Nov the 3rd Assembly of the Iberian Antinuclear Movement (MIA) was  held nearby in Cuenca to highlight the risk that the nearby construction of the ATC in Villar de Cañas would entail. If there is a Nuclear Cemetery available it would boost the Nuclear Industry and could delay even further the closing down of dangerous obsolete plants.
In Sept 2017 the local Castilla-La Mancha government again rejected the Centralized Nuclear Cemetery (ATC)  pending a new environmental resolution by the Ministry, which they said  “must be negative.”

“We have made it clear that we want a different energy model; we do not want the promotion of nuclear energy and we are committed to renewables. The ATC is not compatible with a natural space, “they argued.
For five years renewable energy has been severely blocked in Spain due to  disgraceful laws by the corrupt PP to favour the fossil sector and finally the EU is set to fine Spain for its blatant ‘Tax on using the Sun’ policy.
Several geological reports from the Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) indicate that this nuclear cemetery would be located on unsuitable land due to its risk of subsidence.
The Government delegate in Castilla-La Mancha, José Julián Gregorio, has defended the installation of the ATC in Villar de Cañas and has assured the public that this infrastructure “is necessary for Spain”. “Everyone will have to do what they think is convenient”, he pointed out.

Economic ‘Growth’ will destroy everything. Greening it won`t work – We Need a New System.

Everything Must Go

By George Monbiot,     Everyone wants everything – how is that going to work? The promise of economic growth is that the poor can live like the rich and the rich can live like the oligarchs.

But already we are bursting through the physical limits of the planet that sustains us. Climate breakdown, soil loss, the collapse of habitats and species, the sea of plastic, insectageddon: all are driven by rising consumption.

But growth must go on: this is everywhere the political imperative.

And we must adjust our tastes accordingly. In the name of autonomy and choice, marketing uses the latest findings in neuroscience to break down our defences.

Research by Oxfam suggests that the world’s richest 1% (if your household has an income of £70,000 or more (78,000 euros), this means you) produce around 175 times as much carbon as the poorest 10%.

Those who seek to resist must, like the Simple Lifers in Brave New World, be silenced – in this case by the media. With every generation, the baseline of normalised consumption shifts. Thirty years ago, it was ridiculous to buy bottled water, where tap water is clean and abundant.

Today, worldwide, we use a million plastic bottles a minute. Continue reading “Economic ‘Growth’ will destroy everything. Greening it won`t work – We Need a New System.”
