Happy New Hell 2018 for forgotten Refugees: at #Lesvos: “Despair in Peoples Eyes”

It’s cold on Lesvos. Around 4 or 5 degrees Celsius or even less during the night. The military run Moria camp is on a hill and the wind makes it even feel colder. Images in my head. The same images that I saw many times before on the Balkan route. Despair in peoples eyes, hunger, broken shoes, improvised tents and wet clothes. Welcome to Europe!

I arrived at Lesvos on December 17 and every time I think I have seen it all, the European Union (EU) and it’s member states proof me wrong. When I went into the Moria camp for the first time I saw stockpiles of trash, people living in summer tents and people waiting in front of the registration office. Moria is totally overcrowded, the EU/Turkey deal turned the Greek islands into open prisons. Apart from some so-called “vulnerable” people nobody is allowed to leave the islands. But the criteria of who is considered to be vulnerable and who is not are a joke.

About 15.000 people are now trapped on the Greek islands. Some for more then 18 months now. After more and more media reports about the inhuman conditions people are forced to live in and the ongoing #OpenTheIslands campaign the Greek government finally started to bring more people to the Greek main land. But at some days the numbers of new people that are arriving on the Greek islands are higher then the number of people that are transferred to the mainland of the Greek territory. Our best hope now is an immediate return to the flow. CO2 emissions have to be brought close to zero: some sources of energy that do not produce any emissions bathe the Earth in an untapped glow. The sun strikes the planet with more energy in a single hour than humans consume in a year.

Put differently, the rate at which the Earth intercepts sunlight is nearly 10,000 times greater than the entire energy flux humans currently muster — a purely theoretical potential, of course, but even if unsuitable locations are excluded, there remains a flow of solar energy a thousand times larger than the annual consumption of the stock of fossil fuels.

The flow of wind alone can also power the world. It has nothing like the overwhelming capacity of direct solar radiation, but estimates of the technically available supply range from one to twenty-four times total current energy demand.

Other renewable sources — geothermal, tidal, wave, water — can make significant contributions, but fall short of the promises of solar and wind. If running water constituted the main stream of the flow before the fossil economy, light and air may do so after it. [31D] XXI Marcha Contra las Cárceles

Nos volvemos a encontrar otro año más el 31 de Diciembre alrededor de diferentes centros de encierro para solidarizarnos con todas las personas que sufren el encarcelamiento de sus cuerpos.

La cárcel es la forma más explícita que el poder tiene para reprimirnos: supone un ataque frontal contra la integridad y la autonomía de las personas. El estado utiliza los centros de encierro para castigar a las personas que no siguen las pautas y normas impuestas, disfrazando ese castigo con palabras como reinserción o reeducación.

Se encierra a las personas por el simple hecho de ser pobres, rebeldes o por enfrentarse a este sistema de miseria.
El poder utiliza otros centros de encierro más allá de las cárceles propiamente dichas. Hoy queremos llamar también por su nombre a las cárceles para migrantes y a las cárceles para menores.

Todas las prisiones son una parte esencial de la sociedad en la que vivimos; la sociedad actual y la cárcel se necesitan mutuamente para existir. Afuera encontramos también, aunque con distinta forma, sus mecanismos de control, cámaras, carceleros y chantajes de diversos tipos.

Así pues, la destrucción de la cárcel no pasa solamente por la destrucción de sus muros físicos sino también por la destrucción de unos roles y relaciones sociales que la legitiman y alimentan, convirtiéndonos en presos y presas a todas.

De esta misma manera, el entramado carcelario está formado también por personas, empresas y asociaciones de distinto tipo. Éste no se limita a dentro de los muros y ese hecho abre un amplio abanico de posibilidades de lucha, perfectamente visibles en ciudades construidas cómo cárceles, como Barcelona.

Nuestro mensaje es claro: queremos la destrucción de todos los tipos de cárceles. Hoy hemos querido visibilizar tres tipos de centros de encierro: para menores, para mujeres y para migrantes y así demostrar que si nosotras estamos aquí, ellas no están solas.

Communiqué by the Autonome Antifa Freiburg from 10.11.2017 about the censoring of Indymedia linksunten by the Federal Ministry of the Interior

On 25 August 2017 Federal Minister of the Interior Thomas de Maizière, a member of the CDU, announced the ban of the open-posting platform Indymedia linksunten. Early in the morning, at 5:30, some 250 police raided four private houses and the Autonomous Center KTS in Freiburg. The raids were against five named persons.

Three of these people were handed the ban order from the Federal Ministry of the Interior by the police of the LKA Baden-Württemberg (State Criminal Police Office) who conducted the raid. The Federal Ministry had instructed the State Ministry of the Interior of Baden-Württemberg to enforce the ban. It in turn instructed the Government presidium Freiburg to do so. The Government presidium Freiburg then asked the LKA Baden-Württemberg for official assistance.

On 1 September the LKA confiscated additional IT infrastructure in Freiburg, giving the reason that the computers confiscated in the first raid were described as “strongly encrypted”. In the week following the raids the people concerned were followed round the clock by observation teams. Additionally the confiscation of post and email was ordered.

A week after the raids, the car of one of the concerned people was broken open and the interior panelling of the driver’s door was opened. Inside the KTS, safes were pulled out of walls during the raids and nearly all locks were broken. The autonomous center was devastated. The damage, including the confiscation of money and of technical equipment, amounts to around 80.000 Euro.      Una explosión sacudió un oleoducto de crudo que alimenta la terminal marítima de Es Sider en Libia, dijo una fuente petrolera en el país.

      IN ENGLISH HERE        El puerto mediterráneo de Es Sider es el mayor depósito de petróleo de Libia. La explosión ocurrió cerca de Marada, en el oleoducto perteneciente a la compañía petrolera Waha, dijo la fuente a Reuters.

El puerto está controlado ahora por las fuerzas del General Hafter. los ‘últimos noticias son que el petróleo había sido redirigido a otro oleoducto y que se perderán menos de 100.000 barriles por día en exportaciones durante aproximadamente una semana.
