Brazil: Police Evict 5000 Occupiers At Gunpoint

At 4 am on Friday, 1,500 BOPE killer cops took under siege a building, in northern Rio, which had been occupied by homeless working people, teargasing and attacking people in their sleep. Another person was executed during protests against the military occupation of Mare, on Saturday.

Residents believe that 2 kids and an old man have been suffocated to death in the military assault. Dozens have been injured, some lost their eyes.

Residents believe that two children and an old man have been killed – it is not known who are their names, or if they were killed due to the teargas or the smoke from the building set on fire during the forced eviction. 27 people had been arrested when they defended against the police attack.

Monica and Francisco: jailed, punished, isolated, awaiting trial

Spanish State : The situation of Francisco Solar and Monica Caballero

After five months in prison comrades Monica Caballero and Francisco Solar are held under the ‘dispersed special punishment high security isolation regulations in the Spanish state. They were remanded in prison pending trial , accused with the other 3 defendants now out on bail, of belonging to a terrorist organization ,of ‘accomplished havoc’ and of ‘attempted mayhem’.

Francisco Solar has just been transferred to the prison Villabona in Asturias.

Class War in Rio. Huge Police and Army raid kills kids

Armed State Uniforms Wage Open War On Brazil’s Poor: Largest Favela Occupied, 2 Kids Killed, 37 Arrested En Mass

Two kids, 13 and 16 of age, were killed when special troops of Military Police in Brazil (BOPE), ahead of the Army, invaded the largest favela in Rio de Janeiro on tanks and helicopters, at 5:30, on March 30th.

37 kids were arrested en mass and held at gun point, when they protested the killing of their friends, throwing rocks at tanks and the armed police. It’s a new escalation of military violence against civilian population in Brazil.

The Solidarity Economy as a Strategy for Revolution

There are three roads to revolution. Some focus on seizing state power, others on revolutionary expropriation. The third strategy is to think seriously about how we would actually like to organise our lives and then to start putting these ideas into practice, constructing the new world directly, as a parallel alternative to capitalism.

Let’s be clear that the solidarity economy already exists and people are already fully engaged in the approach that I am describing. I am not messianically opening a new revolutionary pathway; I am merely reporting on a fruitful line of action, introducing it to newcomers, as well as offering some ideas about how it could develop to those who are interested.
